Its been a long time coming & if you have been following us on Twitter its no secret that we have been busy seeking a developer to aide in assisting us with our very own Android Application for AbsolutelyAndroid.com & it took awhile but we finally have a application ready for our supporters to download & install & it is already available on the Android Market (Link & QRCode below).

We have partnered up with my personal good friend for awhile now who goes by the name DizWARE but I know him as Tyler (Creator of the ShuffleTone Application – http://apps.absolutelyandroid.com/shuffletone2-0-android-162656/app) & his team to create a application for our supporters to keep up to date with new content on AbsolutelyAndroid.com so you don’t miss a beat of the latest news or reviews (after all what better way to cement a Android site but with a Android Application right?).

The Application is new so it may be perfect for everyone right off the bat & may lack a feature you think it should have, but Tyler is a responsible guy so I am sure if you have a suggestion for the application or a issue he will listen to you so please if you do have a issue or you think it lacks a feature don’t rate it poorly on the market, get in touch with Tyler first & let him know, you can contact him via the email address provided on the market or on Twitter – http://www.twitter.com/DizWARE or leave a comment here along with the issue/suggestion & we will pass it on to Tyler.

So now lets get to the good stuff.

First what the application can do & what it contains:

• 2 Widgets – Left Aligned & Center Aligned, Both Sized 4×1, Widget displays the latest article & a summary, click the widget to open the Application & view all articles.
• Color Customization – So you can have it your way.
• Refresh on demand – Click the round ball as seen in the 1st image below after the word “Android” in the application to refresh.
• Automatic refresh – which can be set by you from 1hour right up to 24hours (To save battery we recommend either 6hours, 12hours or 24hours but if you want to ensure your first to know about news & reviews as well as everything else Android you may want to use a lower time-frame).
• Sharing – Share articles you like with others via popular applications easily such as Twidroyd, Touiteur, Seesmic, Messaging, Gmail, Official Facebook & Twitter applications & more (long press & hold on a article until a menu appears & select “Share” all the choices of other Applications & Services you can share with will then appear).
• Mark as Read/Unread – Long press & hold on a article until a menu appears & select “Mark as read” or “Mark as unread”.
• One click to see the full article in which should be a mobile friendly site, just quickly tap a article to see the full story (Mobile friendly site is dependant on if you use a different user agent which is mainly Desktop or Internet Explorer 6 which maybe found under settings in your browser on your Android).
• Like Android the AbsolutelyAndroid Application is completely Open Source – This means if you have a website that you want an RSS reader for, you can simply change the feed URL and the Absolutely Android images to ones that relate to your site, and it should work. You can fork the project from here: http://github.com/pencilo/Absolute-Android-RSS but please keep in mind Tyler and several other students from the University of Utah did this, and would appreciate the credit if you decide to use it.
