New Slide immune to root trick?

The Mytouch 3G Slide is one of several phones recently that were found to be able to be rooted via a loop hack. Variants of this hack work on nearly every phone running Recovery 2E (Incredible, Slide, etc.). The basic idea is there is a brief moment where the update.zip can be pushed to the device, allowing Superuser.apk to be successfully installed, and granting root level access to the linux underbelly of Android. HTC solved this by releasing a new version of the Slide, which does not respond to this attack.

The easiest way to tell if you have the “wrong phone” is the keyboard. The 0 on this keyboard is different from those previously released. Additionally, microp-0620+touch panel-synt0104 has taken the spot where microp-0620+touch panel-synt0102 had once lived. Keep your eyes peeled at XDA-developers while they whip up some magic for fix this fix!

I stood in line for the G1 release, clicked refresh until my index finger bled waiting for the N1 sales page to finally drop, and have been deeply in love with the modding community. I have spent several years deeply involved in using and promoting Open Source over all else and could not be happier with the growing Android ecosystem. Now, however, i aim to contribute. Not just developing but spreading the word to all non-Android users. I have already convinced 3 friends to step away from the iPhone, and i dont plan to stop!
