Virtual Keyboards are a dime a dozen on the Android Market nowadays, with names like “Better” and “Swift” to lure you in. If you fiddle around in the modding community, chances are you have heard of or played with Swype. While only available for a handful of devices as a stock replacement, Swype is soon to be  available to a wider  market.

Emails started rolling out today for anyone who registered for the beta after it closed in march, with installation instructions from Swype  Inc to install and test-drive the beta software. Swype videos and blogs are everywhere, with the general consensus being that it’s the greatest alternative to a physical keyboard yet.

The release emails came shortly after a TechCrunch post announcing Swype potentially being available to all tomorrow. While that little bit remains to be seen, it is clear the guys at Swype are firing up the next batch of testers. Wanna be one? head to beta.swype.com and register!

Edit: Confirmed! The Swype Beta is open!

I stood in line for the G1 release, clicked refresh until my index finger bled waiting for the N1 sales page to finally drop, and have been deeply in love with the modding community. I have spent several years deeply involved in using and promoting Open Source over all else and could not be happier with the growing Android ecosystem. Now, however, i aim to contribute. Not just developing but spreading the word to all non-Android users. I have already convinced 3 friends to step away from the iPhone, and i dont plan to stop!
